The synopsis for the first instalment reads: “Dom and Kay are two ordinary police community support officers on the front line of policing, handing out frisbees with ‘Stay Street Smart’ printed on them in east London.
“Detective Inspector Clinton Blair needs two undercover officers to infiltrate the Brightmarsh Gang, but the Met chiefs don’t seem to get the brief.
“So Clinton decides to take matters into his own hands and recruits Dom and Kay in an ‘off-the-books’ operation.
“Dom and Kay succeed in persuading the gang they are fired police officers turned renegade drug dealers and are recruited into the fold. But then, events take an unexpected turn.”
Kay actor Animashaun spoke to the British Comedy Guide about the series and its future.
He said: “There’s definitely scope for a second series and I’d 100 per cent be up for it. It’s not up to me though, we need the public to watch.
“Black Ops is a comedy thriller centered around two black PCSOs who have been tasked with going undercover to infiltrate a criminal gang.
“Only problem is that they have absolutely no undercover experience whatsoever. And they are anything but streetwise! What could possibly go wrong?”
Black Ops airs on BBC One from Friday, May 5 at 9.30pm
