The ITV game show has become one of TV’s most popular quizzes, but rival series Pointless is still going strong on the BBC. Bradley Walsh and Chaser Shaun Wallace took a crack at the show’s notoriously low jackpots when one of tonight’s contestants on The Chase revealed she had appeared on the Alexander Armstrong-hosted programme.
Bradley gave The Chase’s rival a passionate ‘Boo!’ when contestant Katie revealed she had appeared on Pointless.
When asked about her previous quizzing experience, she confirmed her enthusiasm for pub quizzes and said she had even taken part in the rival BBC One series.
“I was on Pointless a few years ago,” she recalled, prompting Bradley to take aim.
He then asked Katie, “How did you get on?”
She confirmed she had won the jackpot, but Bradley wasn’t too impressed by the sum she took home.
“A thousand pounds,” she revealed, to which The Chase host offered a sarcastic “Wow!
“A thousand-pound jackpot,” he continued incredulously. “Kaching, kaching, kaching, kaching, kaching!”
Bradley then realised the format of the series meant Katie would have had to split the meagre prize money with her partner.
“Hang on a minute,” he interjected. “If there’s two of you, you’ve got to share the thousand pounds.
“So let’s whittle this down, what did you do with the £500 when you went on the other show that you do?”
Katie remembered she had spent the money on her children.
“Did you?” Bradley asked. “So, £500, that’s an ice cream each.”

On Friday’s edition of the series, Katie had to face down Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace.
The Chaser was equally displeased by her history of fraternising with the enemy.
He took another shot at Pointless’s poor prize pot by giving Katie a low offer of £501.
“This is a bit more than Pointless,” he joked, provoking a hearty laugh from Bradley.
“They’re getting some stick today,” The Chase host chuckled.
Katie’s experience served her well as she and teammate Rosh were the final two players remaining in the final round.
Sadly, her time on the BBC’s rival show indeed proved pointless as they were knocked out by Shaun with just two seconds to spare.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
