Coronation Street spoilers: Daniel surprises dying Sinead with an early birthday party for baby Bertie

There are some emotional scenes coming up in Coronation Street next week when Daniel Osbourne and Beth Tinker plan a surprise for dying Sinead.

Knowing that the young mum won’t live to see her baby son, Bertie’s, first birthday they arrange an early party for him.

The party coincides with Daniel’s dad, Ken Barlow’s, 80th birthday celebrations.

But things take a sad turn when, on the day of the party, Sinead – who’s played by Katie McGlynn in the ITV soap – is called in to see her oncologist.

She and Daniel are left distraught when they’re told that Sinead’s cancer hasn’t responded to treatment and she now only has weeks to live.

The couple head home in a state of shock, but Sinead insists they should still go to Ken’s party.

Daniel – Rob Mallard – then reveals he had planned a surprise first birthday party for Bertie, which leaves Sinead touched.

At Bertie’s party, which is held in the Rovers’ back yard Sinead tearfully tells her friends and family that she only has weeks left to live.

An emotional Sinead then feels she’s ruined the party for Ken, but he assures her that his only concerns are for her and Daniel.

Daniel and Sinead leave the party so everyone can process the news. Ken shares the tragic news about Sinead to those in the pub, while he clearly struggles to keep his emotions bottled.

Back at the flat, Daniel finally breaks down in tears as Sinead tells him how sorry she is for leaving him but she knows that Bertie will be in safe hands.

It was revealed last month that a distraught Daniel  would consider taking his own life after Sinead’s death.

In tragic spoiler pictures, a heartbroken Daniel can be seen hitting the bottle hard as he struggles to deal with his grief following his wife's death.

In scenes which will air after Sinead passes away, Daniel will down a bottle of whiskey as he hits the self-destruct button once again.

As he staggers towards the edge of the canal, he is clearly struggling to figure out how he can carry on without Sinead and raise their baby boy Bertie by himself.

He is then seen slumped against some beer kegs before looking at a child's dummy then passing out.
