Gemma (played by Dolly-Rose Campbell) hasn’t had the easiest of times recently. After a traumatic birth late last year, the new mum has struggled to parent four babies and was devastated to learn son Aled was deaf. But the Coronation Street resident has more heartache to come as she will be bullied by other mums at a baby group.
Gemma has had plenty of help from her friends in the first few months of being a parent as she tries to look after the tots and herself.
But she will be left feeling terrible when new mums at a baby group target her.
She will take the tots to a baby senses class and leader Vanessa and her friend Vanessa will compliment her on her parenting skills.
But while Gemma starts to feel like she’s doing well, she will be unaware they are being nasty behind her back.

A TV insider told The Sun: “Gemma joins a new group for support, but it all goes wrong when she clashes with a few bitchy women.
“They really shame her and make her questions herself.
“The behaviour of some of the mums will kick start a new mental health storyline for Gemma and send her on a spiral.”
Speaking about the storyline, actress Dolly-Rose revealed: “She is not massively confident, it is all a front and now she feels more vulnerable than ever.
“She does have people offering to help her but she hates asking for help, she doesn’t want to admit that she is struggling to get everything done and her mum is not around any more.”
The actress added Gemma finds it “quite comforting” to meet other mums who feel the same as she’s been feeling “very isolated” from her friends who aren’t parents.
Opening up on Vanessa and Imogen attacking Gemma’s parenting skills, Dolly-Rose shared: “On the face of it they are not her usual type of people.

“They seem very posh and neat and tidy and well put together and they look like they are in control and are breezing through motherhood, so in some way they are what she aspires to be.
“They are the Freshco’s personified. So to be accepted on the face of it by these yummy mummy’s makes her feel great and less alone.”
However, Gemma will be unfair of how cruel the women have been shaming her to others.
“She doesn’t know that they find her a figure of fun and are laughing at her not with her which is awful,” the soap star remarked.

“They aren’t genuine at all, they like her because it gives them someone to look down on, she makes them feel better about themselves because they are grateful they are not like her and they are coping better than her.”
As a result of their behaviour, Gemma’s mental health will suffer as she feels she is not good enough.
“Meeting these women, whilst she enjoys spending time with them it isn’t helping her feelings of inadequacy, but as time goes on it is going to become clear that there is more to it than that and whilst Gemma has no idea that this may be a medical problem she does not know that at this stage,” Dolly-Rose said.
“ At the same time these women are going to make her feel a bit like she did with the Henry situation and when the poster first went up, as though she is not as good as other people.”
