Colson Smith has admitted that he still has a “battle” with his self-image, despite losing an astonishing 10 stone in weight.
The Coronation Street star changed his health and fitness regime by taking up running at the start of last year during lockdown.
The actor, who plays Craig Tinker in the long-running ITV soap talked about the lengths he would go to stop due to his confidence battle.
The 23-year-old revealed he would go running during the night because he was too “embarrassed” over his size.
Speaking to Runner’s World, Colson opened up on his ongoing struggle with self image he said: “'Every run until at least May was for the benefit of losing weight, but then something clicked and it wasn't about that any more. I became more interested in what running actually was.
“My first runs were in the witching hour, pitch black, I had a snood and a cap on. I did not want to be seen.
“But then you see other people who look like you, who are in the same position as you, and the inhibitions start to run off. Running does give you confidence.
“You're not doing it for anyone else, and no one else is going to do it for you. Once you have that idea in your head, you're on to a winner.”
