Piers Morgan was kept in line on Good Morning Britain by Erron Gordon for several years until he left in March this year. Now, the presenter will be working with his former boss again as Erron has joined News UK as Executive Creative Director and will directing the controversial host’s new global primetime show.

Erron helped to launch Good Morning Britain and politics show Peston on ITV.

He also helped to first the primetime leadership debates during the 2019 general Election but is now taking on a new challenge – directing Piers again.

Erron is expected to join News UK at the end of the year in time for Piers’ show launching in early 2022.

In his new role, Erron will lead the creative direction of programming and channel branding across talkTV, including set design, on-screen graphics and sonic branding – as well as managing the studio teams and studio crews.

Speaking of leaving Good Morning Britain for News UK, Erron said: “There are very few occasions in your career when you get to create something entirely new.

“talkTV is one of those opportunities. I’m truly excited about what News UK wants to achieve with the station – and, of course, the opportunity to reunite with Piers on his new global show was impossible to resist.

“Having directed Piers for countless hours of live breaking news and event television, I’m thrilled to be in his ear again calling the shots.”

Piers is also keen to be working Erron once more after their strong working relationship on GMB.

“I only want the very best working on my new show and after the five years we spent together on Good Morning Britain, I know Erron is the most talented TV director in the country,” Piers said.

“So, I’m absolutely delighted he will be joining us on this exciting new challenge.”

There’s still quite a wait before viewers can see Piers on his new show with talkTV expected to launch in early 2022.

The channel will be streamed live and made widely available on all platforms, including linear TV and OTT, with content available across social media as well as News UK’s own broad inventory of websites and apps.

Everyone in the UK will be able to access the channel, live or on-demand, either on their television or on any personal device.

talkTV will offer a mix of programming from News UK’s stable of household brands.

There will be proper hourly news bulletins, sports and entertainment shows, as well as current affairs, debate, opinion and documentaries.

talkTV joins GB News in becoming a rival channel for the likes of Sky News, BBC News and Good Morning Britain.

With both Erron and Piers now at talkTV, could Susanna Reid be next to join the channel?

Piers celebrated Erron’s appointment on Twitter, posting: “BOOM! I only want the best working on my new show, and

@errongordon is the best TV news director in Britain. Thrilled he’s joining us.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am. talkTV launches in 2022.
