On Sunday, November 17, rumors began swirling that the Duggar family was being investigated by the police. The rumors later intensified to suggest the FBI was on hand at the Duggar family compound, and that the family was nowhere to be found on the property. Internet sleuths were quickly on the case, looking at every facet of the family’s life to try and find a potential connection to the rumors. One fan even took to Amy Duggar’s Instagram profile to ask the famed Duggar cousin if the stories were true. While Amy’s answer was non-commital, it appears that nothing significant is actually going on in Washington County, Arkansas, at least nothing that is connected to the Duggar family.
Where did the rumor come from?
Rumors of an FBI raid began swirling over the weekend. Theyfirst gained significant traction in a Reddit community dedicated to Duggarfamily snark. From there, it took on a life of its own, with several forumscommitting entire threads to the allegedly unfolding situation. People claimingto be locals jumped in with their own theories, but nothing has been verified, and the sources remain unvetted.

While the rumor really gained steam once it appeared on Reddit, its origins appear to be a blind item posted on Facebook. The blind item suggested that the FBI was raiding a famous, supersized family’s home. The author of the blind item also posted a follow up on November 18, likely responding to the fact that the alleged raid turned out to be false. The newest blind item reads, “Whether there was a raid or just a target letter directed at the reality famil from the feds, it doesn’t change the fact that a least one pre-teen distant family member was somehow living with the pedophile. It also doesn’t change the fact that the family is deleting a ton of social media posts, turning off comments and trying to scrub any action they did overseas as part of “charitable relief.”” The blind items both appeared on Crazy Days and Nights, a website dedicated to celebrity gossip.

Fans have theorized that the fictitious raid was somehowconnected to JoshuaDuggar. Joshua, as you may all remember, was at the center of the family’s2015 scandal when it was revealed that hemolested several of his younger siblings. Another theory suggested thefamily was being investigated for tax evasion or money laundering. It has longbeen rumored that Jim Bob Duggar is involved in some shady business dealings.
Is there any weight to the FBI raid rumors?
At this time, it doesn’t appear that the rumor holds anywater. It seems that neither the local police nor the FBI was on hand at theDuggar family properties this weekend. Aninvestigation into local arrests in the region has also turned up nothing ofnote. At least, no one connected to the Duggar family has been picked up by police, and it doesn’t appear that a search warrant has been issued for the property. RadarOnline has reported that the FBI confirmed they were not investigatingthe Duggar family this weekend.
At this time, it’s safe to say that there is nothing notable going on at the family’s home, at least, nothing that the authorities are involved in. There is always something a little strange going on with the Duggar family. As of now, everything seems to be on the up-and-up, and the family isn’t on the brink of yet another scandal. At least, not one that the police are involved in. The Duggars still need to deal with their wayward son-in-law, Derick Dillard. Dillard took to Twitter to lambast the family earlier in the week.
Why is the Duggar family turning of social media comments?
While it is safe to say the rumors are patently false, the family did lend some credence to the rumor mill. In the days leading up to the allegations, the Duggar family took to turning off Instagram comments and began deleting some posts. Jedidiah Duggar and Anna Duggar both turned off Instagram comments at one point over the weekend. Jedidiah recently announced he’ll be running for a seat in the Arkansas House of Representatives. Anna Duggar is due to give birth to her sixth child any day now.

Jedidiah and Anna’s behavior have struck fans as a bit odd,but there is likely a totally innocuous explanation. It’s possible that withhis political aspirations, Jed doesn’t want to spend time carefully monitoringcomments; thus, he decided to turn them off altogether. Annamay feel overwhelmed by some of the negative statements thrown her way and hasdecided to take a social media break. Turning off comments doesn’t exactlymean the FBI is pounding on the family’s door. We do have to admit, however, thatit’s a bit strange.
