Dan Walker confirms Strictly return as he brings back controversial dance

BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker has confirmed that he will be returning to Strictly Come Dancing's final to perform his controversial Cha Cha routine to MC Hammer's U Can't Touch This.

Dan, 44, and his professional dance partner Nadiya Bychkova, 32, left viewers divided when they hit the dance floor to dazzle fans with their energetic performance.

But taking to his Instagram this week, the breakfast host expressed his excitement to be back on the main stage.

Speaking to his 260k followers while standing alongside Nadiya, he said: "Guess what, we're back. We're back in the studio today.

"We've been preparing for the big Strictly Come Dancing final this Saturday."

Pointing to Nadiya who appeared to be very energetic in the clip, Dan confirmed that he will be participating in a group dance.

He continued: "Everybody gets to do a little dance, a bit of their favourite dance from the series."

The pair then confirmed that they are getting ready to perform their Hammer Time dance and they will now be allowed to access the bubbles of other contestants on the show.

Captioning the short clip, Dan also shared his excitement by writing: "Back in the training room for the Strictly final.

"Lovely to catch up with everyone and I hope you enjoy the group dance."

Dan's followers were certainly loving the fact that he will be returning to Strictly and took to the comment section to share their thoughts.

One fan penned: "Lovely to see you back, both. Glad you all get together again on Saturday, it’s going to be an amazing show."

Another commented: "Like everyone else can’t wait to watch you and Nadiya dance one last time. Thank you for the joy you have brought throughout your time on Strictly this year."

"Aaah you made feel so happy seeing you together – excellent working relationship – missed your training posts – look forward to Saturday it will be awesome xx," a third added.

Dan and Nadiya's dance to U Can't Touch This left some viewers with mixed feelings. While several others were annoyed by the fact that Dan couldn't help but sing along to the song while dancing.

Taking to Twitter at the time, one online user wrote: "I hate it when the contestants mouth the words of the songs."

While another chimed: "Why does Dan Walker lip sync? Make it stop."

Despite the criticism received online, Dan did impress judges Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke. However Craig Revel Horwood was far more critical of the routine.

The judge said: "I don’t know what the crab walk and the running man have to do with, the Cha Cha, darling."
