Dancing On Ice’s Jayne Torvill teases performance ‘never done before’ with Chris

Torvill and Dean are two of the most well-known professional skaters in the world and have been a part of Dancing on Ice since it began nearly 15 years ago.

One of the reasons fans of the ITV competition continue to tune in is to catch a glimpse of the iconic duo performing something new and breathtaking on the ice.

And this year looks set to be the ice skaters’ best yet as Jayne Torvill promised she and longtime partner Christopher Dean will create something special they’ve “never done before”.

In a new interview, ITV quizzed the Olympic skater over what viewers could look forward to.

“Chris and I have been working on a couple of performances,” Jayne began.

“One of them I can tell you is something we’ve never done on Dancing on Ice before."

“Because Chris has had so much time in the UK this time round and hasn’t been travelling back and forth [to the US] we’ve been training really since the end of September,” the judge explained.

“We’ve had a lot more time to get routines together and prepare something even more special,” the star teased.

Asked whether there was anyone who she thinks is the “one to watch” this series, Jayne considered the group getting set to take to the ice on Sunday.

“There are one or two really,” she said. “Initially Graham Bell is looking very strong, Colin Jackson too, Joe-Warren Plant looks really strong.

“What I feel is that a lot of people are enjoying it. For example, Sonny Jay has always got a smile on his face and clearly loves it.”

The Olympian continued: “Obviously, we haven’t seen any of their routines so it’s going to be really interesting to see when we get to the first shows.

“And everyone has been preparing them much earlier this year so hopefully at the start we’re going to see quite a high standard,” she added.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are back to present the glittering competition this weekend, as they welcome a whole new group of nervous celebrities onto the ice rink.

Dancing on Ice starts Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
