BBC viewers were left gobsmacked on Friday night (November 18) after Children In Need announced Millie Gibson will be joining the show as the Doctor Who's new companion.
The 60th anniversary special will see David Tennant make a highly anticipated comeback as the 15th Doctor alongside the new companion.
Ahead of the announcement, Dr Who's official Twitter page released a post which read: "Get ready to meet the new #DoctorWho companion tonight, exclusively on @BBCCiN in the UK."
The message was followed by two love heart emojis, a plus sign and a red diamond symbol.
On Friday's night episode of Children In Need, presenter Jason Manford and Mel Giedroyc finally revealed who would be playing the new role and fans were left stunned to discover Millie will be stepping into the famous Doctor Who shoes.
Jumping onto Twitter, viewers shared their thoughts.
One person wrote: "So now we know why Kelly left #Corrie. I'm so happy with this news. A huge congratulations @MillieGibson01 on your brand new #DoctorWho role. You will be incredible."
Another penned: "She reminds me of Billie Piper's Rose Tyler. She's a beauty. Looking forward to see how she will be alongside Gatwa's Doctor. I expect it to be a lot of 'Run' with energy and fun. It's after all a very young lineup."
A third said: "Finally a Gibson is in @BBCDoctorWho. From Weatherfield to The Moon. @MillieGibson01 is The Doctor's right hand Woman. Millie Gibson's life is going to be changed forever. I cannot be happier for her."
While a fourth viewer added: "Millie Gibson is gonna be such a great companion on Doctor who, so happy for her and excited for Doctor who! What an awesome opportunity for her!"
