EastEnders fans slam ‘pointless’ Lucas storyline as killer returns to prison

EastEnders viewers have taken to social media to vent after the soap aired Lucas Johnson's (Don Gilet) exit scenes on Thursday evening.

The former drug addict turned priest has trying to adapt to life out of prison since his return at Christmas, but it didn’t take long for the serial killer to end up back behind bars.

Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) bid farewell to her dad in emotional scenes as he told her that she's not on his visitor's list.

She tearfully askedL "Will I ever se you again?"

Lucas replied: "Walk away. Be your best self, be magnificent, be my angel."

Viewers at home weren't impressed with the storyline, especially as Lucas had only been released from prison recently.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "So Lucas came out of prison just to go back into prison.. pointless much."

Another added: "Gosh this Lucas return has been so boring."

A third person posted: "So they really brought Lucas back just to throw him straight back in prison?"

While a fourth viewer said: "Lucas deserved better."

"Lucas has finally left. I liked his final scene with Chelsea but his whole return has been such a disappointment," a fifth social media user moaned.

Chelsea had been planning a drugs run to Ibiza since she returned to Walford with her father.

Mum Denise Fox (Diane Parish) was initially stunned to see Chelsea re-building a relationship with her dad, and once it was revealed Chelsea was trying to set Lucas up into doing the dangerous drugs run for her, things haven’t exactly gone as she planned.

When the day of the drugs run finally arrived, Lucas and Chelsea made their way to the airport.

After Lucas sneakily swapped their cases around, Chelsea thought her dad had deliberately set her up.

However, as she made her way through airport security, Chelsea saw her bag was empty, and Lucas had taken the suitcase full of drugs instead.

It came as a surprise to viewers that Lucas had actually saved his daughter instead of double-crossing her, and as he made contact with Denise's boyfriend Jack (Scott Maslen.

Thing took a dark turn for Lucas and he was attacked by two men who worked for Caleb.
