EastEnders fans have watched as long-term resident Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) has been left guilt stricken over the death of 13-year-old Dennis Rickman (Bleu Landau), after he drowned during the boat party tragedy. After finding out Denny was behind the religious abuse aimed at his son Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell), Ian saw red and after confronting the troublesome teenage about it, locked him below deck to show him who’s boss.
But what was meant to be a harmless lesson in morals, ended in tears as Denny didn’t make it ashore alive.
In the aftermath of his death, Ian has been hailed a hero for trying to save him at the last minute, which almost ended in him dying too.
But grief stricken Ian got the shock of his life when Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) came across a voicemail from Denny on the night he died, after he rang his mum Sharon Mitchell (Leticia Dean), begging for help.
Now Dotty has him right where she wants him, she has been blackmailing Ian, telling him to get her The Arches which is currently opened by Ben Mitchell, or she’ll release the incriminating evidence.

Under threat, Ian knows his time is running out, but will he give in to Nasty Nick’s daughter’s demands?
Or will he pay the price?
Next week, viewers will watch as Dotty steps up her game as Ian fails to deliver on her wishes.
Standing his ground, he calls her bluff after sneaking out to see her, and attends Denny’s funeral as planned.
But little does he know, Dotty has more up her sleeve.
Taunting Ian after making him open the restaurant for her and Vinny Panesar (Shiv Jalota) to have a drink, she enjoys watching Ian squirm.
But as one thing leads to another, she finds herself embroiled in breaking the law as she steals a man’s wallet and has to be saved by Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson).

As a hungover Dotty sleeps on the Beale’s sofa, Ian takes his chance and rifles through her bag to find the phone that harbours the damning evidence.
Feeling pleased with himself, he later gloats that she can no longer threaten him.
But he’s left quaking with fear as she reveals she has CCTV footage that can place Ian at the scene of the crime.
How far will the restauranteur push Dotty before she snaps?
Will this be his downfall?

Fans of the BBC soap will notice fewer episodes airing from now on.
With COVID-19 infecting the nation, soap bosses have decided to reduce filming to ensure the safety of their cast and crew.
A spokesperson for the soap said: “In light of the spread of COVID-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice.
“The decision was made after the latest government update. We will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the World Health Organisation and Public Health England.
“We have also taken the decision to reduce the amount of episodes we broadcast each week to two, so that we can ensure the audience can continue to enjoy EastEnders in their homes for as long as possible.”
EastEnders will be on-screen twice a week; Mondays, 8pm and Tuesdays, 7.30pm.
