Charity Dingle was heartbroken when Charity first told her the devastating news that she had cancer and viewers watched as she struggled to process the life-changing information.

Vanessa then confided in her sister Tracey that Charity was in denial about it all and that she’d gone to the hospital without her.

Tracey then wasted little time in telling Charity to keep away from Vanessa if she couldn’t support her.

She said: "You were too busy being useless, burying your head in the sand and now you’re all over her making her feel suffocated. If you really want to help Vanessa, back off and leave it to me."

Charity and Vanessa might have overcome that hurdle, but in upcoming scenes they continue to struggle with their emotions as Vanessa is forced to have chemotherapy following an operation to remove her tumours.

Next week’s episodes of Emmerdale will see Charity and Vanessa struggle to cope as the day of Vanessa’s chemotherapy arrives.

Vanessa heads to the hospital to undergo treatment alone when Charity is forced to stay at home and look after a sick Moses.

But the vet is surprised to find herself in the company of Kerry Wyatt – who started the factory fire that killed her father – when she happens to be walking past.

Kerry insists on supporting her, but when Charity arrives at the hospital all hell breaks loose and she starts rowing with Vanessa.

Back at home the couple continue to row and Vanessa seeks support from her friend Rhona instead.

Vanessa then hits the town to celebrate Rhona’s birthday, but ends up getting drunk and fighting with a student after beating them at a game of pool.

Much to Charity’s horror – the incident is captured on camera and circulates on social media.

Later in the week, Vanessa feels wretched about the incident and her arguments with Charity and tries to make peace with her girlfriend.

But it’s not long before Vanessa asks a big question of Charity – one that leaves her speechless.

When Charity falters before answering, Vanessa realises there’s still a rift between them.

But what was Vanessa’s question and will Charity give her the answer she wants to hear?
