MARLON Dingle's recovery from his horrific stroke is not without any obstacles.
Next week in Emmerdale, the chef faces yet another setback as he returns to Smithy Cottage.
In March, 2022, Marlon (portrayed by Mark Charnock) suffered from a horrifying stroke as he was preparing to take his relationship with Rhona Goskirk to the next level.
Since then, the recovery process has not been a linear as he recently contracted pneumonia, which led him straight back into hospital.
But things seem to be looking up once again in upcoming scenes of the ITV soap – until Marlon gets back to the Dales.
Coming up, Rhona's mother Mary (Louise Jameson) tries to reassure nervous Marlon as he prepares to return home after his bout of pneumonia.

To try and help him, Kit recommends painting to rehabilitate his motor control but Marlon’s quick to reject the idea.
Mary is aware of everything going on and, soon enough, could even plead with Marlon to change his mind.

The Dales newcomer has tried to remain supportive of her daughter Rhona while Marlon continues to recover.
However, when she noticed the pressure was getting to the village vet, Mary was quick to suggest a separation – which Rhona immediately refused.
Marlon can also rely on the support of other village residents in the likes of his best friend Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) and his young daughter April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan).
The latter was the first to find Marlon following his stroke.
Despite the initial shock, she was able to call an ambulance for him, thus contributing to saving his life.
As the stroke storyline unfolds, many viewers have expressed their worry for Marlon's fate.
Actor Mark Charnock has seized the opportunity to urge Emmerdale fans to change their lifestyle and remain aware that a stroke can happen at any age.
