Emotional Bradley Walsh fears letting son down after refusing to do bungee jump

Bradley Walsh almost tackled a stomach-churning bungee jump on Monday’s Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad, only to opt out with moments to spare.

The Chase star strapped himself into the harness, spreading out his arms as he faced the dizzying heights, but suddenly bolted, refusing to do it.

Growing emotional after stepping back from the jump, Brad, 60, turned to his son Barney and apologised, fearing he hadn’t lived up to expectations.

After the pair hugged, Bradley said: "I let you down."

However, Barney was quick to reassure his dad, thanking him for even considering taking on the eye-watering challenge.

Insisting he’d never let him down, he replied: "I’m proud that I got you up there in the first place."

During their European road trip, Barney and Bradley travelled through Switzerland, where they visited the site of one of James Bond’s most iconic stunts.

Measuring a whopping 220 metres in height, the Verzasca Dam is the home to the nail-biting GoldenEye jump.

Barney was the first to take on the challenge, leaping off the launch pad and falling into the echoing cement dam.

Next up, Bradley walked to the edge but was too shaken to actually propel himself into the air and fall into the abyss below.

Turning to the instructors, he confessed: "I can’t do it. I’m so sorry."

When one of the instructors pointed out they never intended to "torture" anyone with the jump, Bradley replied: "For me it is torture."

Another crew member revealed a number of patrons even struggle to make it to the edge, the staggering heights proving too terrifying to stomach.

Proud of his dad, Barney added: "I was shaking watching you stand there."

Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad continues next Monday at 8pm on ITV.
