Ex Big Brother presenter Dermot O'Leary pays tribute to Nikki Grahame calling her death 'so desperately sad'

EX Big Brother presenter Dermot O'Leary has paid tribute to Nikki Grahame calling her death "so desperately sad" on This Morning.

ITV viewers saw presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot discuss eating disorders with Dr Sara Kayat.

The X Factor host told ITV viewers that Nikki's death was heartbreaking as they spoke about the use of BMI in health treatment.

Dermot said: "This is a really interesting and given the passing of Nikki Grahame at the weekend which was desperately sad – so pertinent.

"The use of BMI contributes to eating disorders and disrupts mental health, which is the first headline."

The debate comes as a report from the Women and Equalities Committee found that BMI should be scrapped in terms of deciding whether someone needs treatment for an eating disorder.

You’re Not Alone

EVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.

It doesn't discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.

It's the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.

And men are three times more likely to take their own life than women.

Yet it's rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.

That is why The Sun launched the You're Not Alone campaign.

The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.

Let's all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You're Not Alone.

The issue is more relevant than ever after Big Brother's Nikki sadly lost her life after her battle with anorexia at the age of 38.

She has been fighting the illness since she was a child, and was first admitted to a psychiatric hospital at the age of 12 following a suicide bid.

At one point, Nikki had to be force fed through a nasal tube after she starved herself.

The Big Brother star checked into a private hospital to treat her eating disorder last month after her desperate friends managed to raise more than £65,500 to start paying for life-saving care.

But despite her doting friends' help Nikki lost her battle with her life-long eating disorder last week.
