Furious Ruth Langsford reveals she confronted a ‘hairy-armed’ man who broke social distancing rules in the supermarket – The Sun

RUTH Langsford has revealed she confronted a "hairy-armed" man who broke social distancing rules in the supermarket.

The 60-year-old was left furious when the stranger leaned over her to pick up potatoes at the shop – purposely breaking the enforced two metre distance.

Telling This Morning viewers how hard it is to keep others at a distance during lockdown, Ruth said: "I was in the supermarket the other day with my gloves and my mask on picking potatoes and then suddenly this big hairy arm came across.

"Literally a man leaned over me and I just said 'excuse me'.

"But he looked at me like he didn't know what I was talking about.

"Then I stopped because I didn't want to cause a scene.

"How do you say, 'excuse me but can you please move away and observe social distancing'? It's very hard."

Brits have been told to follow social distancing guidance by keeping more than two metres (6ft) apart from anyone they don't live with amid the coronavirus pandemic.

But worrying tests this week revealed that the two-metre rule isn't enough to stop Covid-19 spreading.

Researchers insist a mild cough occurring in low wind speeds can propel droplets of the deadly virus a staggering 18ft away.

This weekend people in the UK have been left up in arms as the Prime Minister Boris Johnson's most senior aide Dominic Cummings broke lockdown by driving to Durham in late-March.

Despite facing calls to quit, Cummings defended himself – and was backed by the PM.

On her show today, Lorraine Kelly slammed the advisor as "arrogant" and asked: "Can the 14,000 Brits fined for breaking lockdown appeal?"

At a press briefing last night, Mr Johnson suggested last night that lockdown measures could be eased further as he spoke during the Downing Street press conference.

He confirmed the country appears to be "in a position to move to step two" on his road map back to some kind of normality amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The second stage is hoped to begin on June 1 – next Monday – if the government is satisfied with the progress made in controlling the pandemic.
