Gogglebox fans were treated to a brand new family on Friday night, as siblings Simon and Jane joined the famous Channel 4 cast.

Kicking off the latest edition of the series, the North London duo stunned fans with their appearance right at the beginning of the show as they settled in to watch this week's television programmes.

Seeing the newbies on their TV screens for the first time, fans were certainly loving the pair and quickly rushed to their keyboards to share their views.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "Hello, Simon and Jane!"

Another said: "Great to see newbies on this latest series."

A third penned: "Aww there's some newbies."

Meanwhile a fourth tweeted: "Simon and Jane are a brilliant addition to the show!!!"

Gogglebox has been the centre of media attention recently after some members will no longer be returning to the popular show.

Last month, Paige Deville quit the Channel 4 programme and posted a scathing message regarding the bosses on the show.

Taking to twitter, she penned: "I have made the decision to walk away from Gogglebox."

The TV star continued: "It’s been an experience but one I cannot continue with due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions & zero aftercare support but hey who cares about ex cast, their NTA winners".

In response to her outburst, a spokesperson for Gogglebox said: "The welfare of contributors – past and present – is of paramount importance and robust protocols are in place to support contributors before, during and after taking part in the series."

Paige, 24, is known for appearing on her sofa alongside her mum Sally since 2019.

The pair have offered viewers barrels of laughs since joining the show with the hilarious anecdotes and quick witted quips.

Earlier this year, Gogglebox stars Pete McGarry, Mary Cook and Andy Michael all sadly passed away.

It was later confirmed that their respective friends and family – Linda McGarry, Marina Wingrove, and Louis, Alex and Carolyn Michael – will not be making a return to the programme due to this.

The tragic losses left a gaping hole amongst friends, family and viewers who became familiar with the cast members.

Gogglebox airs Fridays on Channel 4 at 9pm
