Omid, 54, starred in last week’s fourth episode of His Dark Materials as Dr. Lanselius, the diplomatic Consul of the witches of the North, in a meeting which saw Lyra Belacqua (Dafne Keen) trying to get to get answers about the mysterious Obligation Board. Amongst the cinematic scenes and twist spinning storylines, some viewers of the BBC drama might not have picked on some specific changes made to costumes to differentiate our world from the fictional reality where humans are paired with spirit daemons. However, the comedian has offered an insight to what might have been missed.
Although it may seem the attire of the characters is almost Victorian, there is method behind the time-bending fashion choices.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk about his experience filming the drama, Omid explained how the costumes blew his mind.
“It was a very interesting experience because the sets are so incredible.

Delving into the secrets of the eye-catching garments, Omid recalled how he struggled getting into his attire as everything was the other way around.
“I remember thinking, ‘How do you button this up?’ You just do the top button of your jacket and then there’s a V-shape – it was a three-piece suit.
“I thought, ‘Well that’s weird. That’s not the way you normally [do it].’

Omid said: “He’s on top of a diving board at the very top. It’s very deliberately unnerving. Being part of this world is deliberately unnerving.”
Despite his confusion with regards to the fashion choices, the comedian explained his thoughts about the adaptation.
“We could be on to a televisual masterpiece,” he declared.

“It was very unusual and very intriguing and again, it’s all about morals. All these great stories have great morals behind them,” he explained.
“There’s a lot of things going on like now.
“Dark Materials is about are we being lied to? Is there things going on in authority we’re not being shown? Do the people have a voice? Can we speak up?
