Hollyoaks’ Kieron Richardson has hinted that Ste Hay will ‘put a stop’ to the far-right terrorist attack planned by Jonny Baxter (Ray Quinn) and Stuart Sumner (Chris Simmons).
Despite the long-time character showing blind loyalty to the pair after being groomed and initiated into the anti-Muslim group, all might not be lost for Ste as Kieron revealed there might be a way out for him.
With the character largely in the dark about Jonny and Stuart’s violent plan, Kieron explained: ‘Ste loosely knows that something is happening and there has been lots of talk about action and doing something massive.
‘However, the moment that Ste realises that lives are in jeopardy here and every life is important, Ste has to put a stop to it, especially because his friends and family are in the firing line for this one.’
Nevertheless, it’s definitely not going to be an easy journey for Ste considering he’s in deep with his so-called friends. Kieron admitted that Ste’s going to have to reach a new low to pull himself out of the organisation.
‘A former member of the group, Jed, tried to help Ste get out of it. Ste is so far down this rabbit hole now that Jed unfortunately couldn’t help him, it’s only Ste that can help himself,’ the 27-year-old said.
‘He’s got to be the one that makes the decision. Even though Jed’s tried to steer him in to the right direction, ultimately he has to hit rock bottom for him to get himself out.’
The actor, who has played the character since he was introduced in 2006, revealed that Ste has ‘questioned the racial tones’ of the group’s hateful attitudes after they targeted the Maalik family.
But it’s going to take more than that to get him out of the organisation, considering how much dirt they’ve got on him.
‘They have loads of evidence stacked up against him, including him smashing up Amir’s bike, and all the online stuff, him beating up Jed, and the threat on his family,’ Kieron admitted.
‘Ultimately, he wants to keep his family safe and he knows that if he was to just walk away they could do anything to put them in danger.’
After Ste gives a speech at Stuart’s family day, the villainous pair deliberate on whether to let him in on their plan.
Although they decide to enlighten him, he has no idea what he’s actually in for, with the events of the day leaving him – and the rest of Hollyoaks – reeling.
As for what will happen to the lad after his involvement – only time will tell.
