Applications were first set to close on Friday, April 30 2021.

The channel writes: "ITV2 are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who are searching for love!

"Our Islanders spend time in a luxury villa in the hope of finding love, but to remain in paradise they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders, who ultimately decide their fate on Love Island.

"If you think you’ve got what it takes, then we want to hear from you!"

Ex-Love Island contestant Chris Williamson gave his advice to aspiring contestants.

He said: "You need to show the producers you'll get involved."

"A well-curated social media feed is important".

He continued: "Those 50 dog photos may be exciting to you, but the executives at ITV probably don't care".

Former contestant Montana Brown offered her tips, saying: "Don't just blend into the background. Remember some really funny stories and tell [the executives].

"Don't just say 'Oh I'm really fun'. Yeah but why are you fun? What makes you different."

How do I apply for Love Island through Tinder?

Those looking for love can also apply to appear on this year's show directly through the popular dating app.

Where will Love Island be held?

Odds from Ladbrokes put it at 2/1 that the show will be filmed atthe classic Majorcan villa we know and love.

For its comeback to the screens, Love Island will be returning to its infamous Spanish home in Mallorca.

The modern villa is located in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar and has housed some wild antics in previous series.

Laura Whitmore – who took over from the late Caroline Flack – was pictured filming the promo in the villa.

In the case of another lockdown situation, ITV secured Jersey as a second choice according to The Mirror.

An insider said: "The Channel Islands get plenty of sunshine so it makes sense to hold Love Island there if we can't get back to Spain,”

“Either way we're going to put out a belting series. Viewers have missed Love Island for the whole of 2020 and they're desperate to have it back. They're going to love what we do, wherever we do it.”
