FANS have been speculating that Zac Efron got plastic surgery after he made a brief cameo in Bill Nye's Earth Day special this week.
The actor appeared in a video to raise awareness for climate change with other stars like Justin Bieber, Steve Aoki and Tori Kelly.
But Efron's "unrecognizable" look got fans talking, and the star's name was trending on social media shortly after the awareness video went up on Facebook Watch.
Efron, 33, appeared to have a more-defined jawline and swelling in the lip and chin area when he appeared in the video, which led many to jump to the conclusion that the actor had work done.
The actor has gone through many looks during his two-decade career, from the teen heartthrob phase in Disney's High School Musical to a ripped lifeguard in 2018's Baywatch.
After playing serial killer Ted Bundy in the 2019 film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, Efron briefly donned a bleached blonde hairdo.
He also surprised fans with a new look when his Netflix series, Down to Earth, premiered last summer.
The series, which follows Efron as he travels the world to experience different cultures and explore sustainable ways to live, shows the actor's more rugged side.
Efron's often seen donning a beard and a baseball cap in the series.
Efron's latest look comes as he recently split from his girlfriend Vanessa Valladares.
The former couple had previously hoped to buy a home together in Australia but that plan was scrapped.
A source told The Sun: "Zac and Vanessa looked like the real deal. They were besotted with each other.
"So once he decided to stay in Australia long term, he suggested they buy their first home.
"They'd started to look at a few places but, sadly, fate wasn't on their side.
"Zac's work and the enforced distance has really taken its toll."
