Fans of The Chase slammed a question on the ITV show – with some claiming it was "made up" by show bosses.

The popular ITV show returned to screens on Thursday (February 17), and it saw new contestants Hassan, Luke, Shirley, and Jo try their luck against the Chasers in the ITV studio.

As always, the players must face off against "Britain's finest quiz brains" in a bid to win a hefty cash prize – and this week the team were up against Jenny The Vixen Ryan.

The team got off to a dream start with Newcastle-based doctor Hassan bagging £23k from the Vixen – after bravely opting for the higher offer.

When Luke stepped up to the plate next, he managed a successful cash-builder round and made it back to his team.

However, it wasn't without its challenges, and he was faced with a strange-sounding question about phones.

The question read: "What term is used for a mobile device with a screen size between a smartphone and a tablet"

Luke's three possible answers read: "Smartable", "Tablone" and "Phablet".

Luke correctly answered "Phablet", but he told show host Bradley Walsh: "It sounds so silly, doesn't it?"

Bradley then admitted: "I've never heard of it."

Fans were baffled at the question, though, and they flocked to Twitter to vent their confusion.

One fan fumed: "Phablet? They definitely make up some of these questions…"

A second said:" Literally no one has ever sais 'phablet'"

A third agreed: "Made up crap".

A fourth quipped: "A 'phablet'? 'Ph*** off with that!"

A fifth added: "What the f***ing f**k is a Phablet ???"

A phablet is actually a real mobile device, sold by companies like Samsung, which is halfway between the size of a phone and a tablet.

Shirley was up next, but unfortunately she was caught out by Jenny, which meant she was sent packing.

Jo struggled in her cash builder round but bagged £2000, and she controversially took a minus-£11k offer which enabled her to proceed to the final with her teammates Hassan and Luke.

The team's total was cut from £29k down to £18k, but it ended up helping the team out in the Final Chase – as they managed to outrun Jenny.

At the end of the game, Jenny admitted Jo's minus offer helped them win as it forced her to rush through her questions and make mistakes.
