Jacques O’Neill finally apologises after backlash over 'offensive' behaviour

Love Island star Jacques O’Neill has apologised days after footage emerged from himself making digs at islanders including Tasha Ghouri and Adam Collard.

Jacques, who left the Villa early, has been under fire after actions such as appearing to make fun of Tasha during her speech declaring her love for Andrew Le Page in the finale.

He was also again accused by Remi Lambert of ‘bullying’ after an Instagram Live of Jacques and Luca Bish went viral over the weekend, where they joked about Remi’s rapping.

Following his exit, Remi claimed there was an unaired argument between him and the rugby ace, 23, and also hailed his Love Island experience ‘s**t’ because of Jacques.

In a statement on Thursday afternoon, Jacques acknowledged his behaviour and issued an apology on his social media accounts.

He began: ‘I want to acknowledge the situation that’s happening right now and apologise if my behaviour has caused offence or been misinterpreted the last few weeks.

‘I genuinely have no bad feelings towards anyone and I’ve not meant for anything to come across that way at all. It was not my intention and I’m genuinely sorry if it has.

‘Life has been very overwhelming recently and admittedly I’ve probably not handled myself in the best possible way. I take full responsibility for my actions.

‘I’m aware I’m far from perfect and that there is work that needs to be done on myself.’

He went on to reveal he attended his first therapy session earlier this week, that ‘took him out of his comfort zone’ but he knows it is the right thing for him.

Jacques continued: ‘I know I have needed this for years but it’s only now I have decided to get help. I know it’s a step in the right direction for me even after just one session.

‘I’m not asking for sympathy, I just want to acknowledge the situation and move forward as positively I can.’

He concluded the statement by sharing that he hopes the situation can be an ‘important lesson’ for himself moving forward and added: ‘I hope I can become the person I want to be and use this new platform to spread a positive message.

‘I’m sorry to anyone that I have let down x.’

Remi previously replied to the comments from Jacques and Luca, and said: ‘Don’t know why these guys have such a problem with me, clearly got some serious issues they need to sort out.

‘Everyone said I lied about the way I was treated in that villa, but this here is an example of what was going on whilst I was in there. Don’t know why they weren’t kicked out for their behaviour, to be honest. It’s not banter, it’s clear signs of bullying,’ he penned.

Reflecting on what took place behind the scenes, Remi added: ‘I wish everyone could see all of the crap I went through.

‘There are 24 hours in a day and yous only seen like about 3-5 10-second clips of me out of the whole day, so you could never tell what was truly happening.’

Following his exit, Jacques said that appearing on the show was the ‘worst decision of my life’, and expressed that he wanted to go into hiding and delete his social media entirely.
