Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan – Worries about fish drink
Jane McDonald hilariously bid farewell to her fans before she sampled some Japanese food she thought might be “poisonous”.
As part of her new Channel 5 series, Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan, the 60-year-old decided to explore a food market in Tokyo.
“It’s hugely busy here, but that’s part of the experience,” she noticed.
Taking in the exciting surroundings, the singer added: “The aromas are just incredible, every smell you could possibly have – there’s meat smells, barbecue smells, sweet smells, fish smells. There’s everything here.”
Local friend and guide Tommy joined Jane to help her decide what to try in the market, and he encouraged her to sample a drink made from fish.

“Oh pufferfish, oh marvelous, I’m in your hands,” Jane told Tommy.
Turning to the camera, she added: “Pufferfish is poisonous, so this might be the last I see of you.
“It’s been lovely entertaining you all for such a long time….”
As Tommy handed her the drink, she asked: “Oh, this is the pufferfish. Is that not poisonous?”

Jane replied: “Not on that bit? OK… Oherwise, it’s all over.”

Jane was relieved when Tommy then took her to a stand selling the Japanese equivalent of a prawn cracker.
“I’m about to try a shrimp cracker, a bit like a prawn cracker I am hoping!” she explained.
“It’s like a bag of crisps but all in one,” she observed after being handed a large cracker.
“Oh, that’s lovely – delicious!” She beamed after tasting it.
She continued: “You’re getting whole goodness and the cracker is perfect.”
Jane McDonald: Lost in Japan continues on Friday at 9pm on Channel 5.
