Jeremy Renner's 'Hawkeye' Might Connect Its Villain Back to 'Agent Carter'

Rumor has it that Marvel hero Hawkeye will be the next to die in the MCU, but until then, we have an entire series to look forward to.

The biggest question on everyone’s mind revolves around which villains will make their debut, or if it will be a villain that has already popped up. Fans on Reddit have a lot of theories about that, and there’s one villain in particular that everyone can’t wait to see.

Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye

Hawkeye, portrayed on-screen by Jeremy Renner, is one of the original Avengers. He doesn’t get a lot of love from fans due to the fact that he doesn’t have any superpowers, and isn’t quite as flashy on screen as Black Widow.

In spite of the popularity of archers such as Green Arrow, Katniss Everdeen, and even Robin Hood, Hawkeye simply didn’t stand out.

There has been some backlash over how Hawkeye is portrayed on screen versus how he appears in the comics. Renner’s version is a stellar family guy who saves the world in between tucking his kids in for bed.

In the comics, Hawkeye thought monogamy was too hard, and was considered very immature by a lot of fans. The comic book version is still considered to be more fun than Renner’s version, however.

That did change in Avengers: End Game. Renner was praised for his performance, and some fans are even clamoring for him to get an Oscar. While it’s unclear if that will happen, fans are eager to see how the new Hawkeye series will go down.

Madame Masque predictions

With Hawkeye filling the role of the hero, everyone is wondering who the villain will be, and rumor has it that Madame Masque will fill that role. She may not have had superpowers, but she could definitely wreak havoc on the MCU.

Madame Masque was a socialite whose father, master criminal Count Luchino Nefaria, gave her up for adoption to Byron Frost. After a chemical accident that left her face scarred, she took to wearing a golden mask. She is an expert martial artist, markswoman, and has a real talent for anything robotic.

Madame Masque was an occasional love interest to Iron Man. Her connection to Hawkeye is not with Clint Barton, but with Kate Bishop who is rumored to take up the mantle of Hawkeye.

Given Marvel’s penchant for not staying true to the comics, it’s unclear how Madame Masque will make her presence known on Hawkeye. Fans are thrilled by Madame Masque’s entry in the MCU, but it appears that she might have already made her debut.

Who is Whitney Frost?

The problem currently making its rounds in the Reddit forums is that Whitney Frost, Madame Masques’ alias, has already made her debut on Agent Carter.

“i wonder if they’ll have this Madame Masque be biologically related to Agent Carter’s Whitney Frost, as a nudge to the character and a way to separate the two for continuity,” one fan wrote.

There are a few notable differences between the Whitney Frost of the comics and the Whitney Frost that appeared on Agent Carter, which is why many fans believe that they can’t be one and the same.

Agent Carter’s Whitney Frost was played by Wynn Everett. According to CBR, Ms Frost was a brilliant physicist named Agnes Cully who was banned from doing what she loves because she was a woman.

Unable to pursue a career in her chosen career, she took the stage name Whitney Frost, and became an actress.

Unlike the comic book character that goes by Whitney Frost, this character has some serious superpowers. During one of her many experiments, Frost is exposed to Zero Matter. This allows her to absorb zero matter, and use it to destroy her enemies.

This doesn’t come without a price, however. Whitney Frost begins to develop a scar on her face, much like her comic book counterpart.

Given all the obvious differences, fans are eager to see just how Marvel will pull this off, and there are a lot of great theories.
