Whether we’re watching them via TLC’s Counting On or we’re keeping up with them on social media, there’s always a lot going on in the world of the Duggar family. Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar brought their 19 children into the reality TV spotlight at first, of course. But now that their older kids are fast approaching their 30s and have spouses, children, and home lives of their own, there’s more to keep track of than ever before.
If there’s one Duggar who fans have a close eye on, it’s Jill. Jill Duggar is no longer on Counting On thanks to her controversial husband, Derick Dillard, but she still frequently posts to social media. And recently, she made a post about the people close to her in her life while many of the other Duggars were venturing out to California and beyond. Here’s what’s going on.
A bunch of the Duggars just took a trip across the country

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar don’t appear to leave their Arkansas home too often anymore, but thanks to Instagram, they’re showing off their latest trip out west. The trip began with the Duggar parents bringing a number of their younger kids and Jana, their 29-year-old daughter who still lives under their roof, to the Grand Canyon. After that, the family visited with friends in Phoenix, Arizona, and then made their way to Los Angeles, California.
The California leg of their trip appears to be the longest, as the Duggar Family Instagram posted photos of their younger girls taking a trip to the American Girl store for Josh Duggar’s daughter’s 10th birthday. And of course, while they were in Los Angeles, they visited Jinger Duggar and her family. Jinger also posted her own photo with her, Michelle, and her youngest sister, Josie to her Instagram Story.
Jill Duggar recently posted about her close group of church friends instead

There’s no doubt it’s tough to get all of the Duggars to gather in one place. And while the little ones living with Jim Bob and Michelle were all able to attend this massive trip to visit Jinger, a few others were notably absent. Jill Duggar didn’t take part in the trip, and not only that, but she posted about the other people in her life who mean a ton to her while her family was away.
Jill’s photo appears to be of her group of close friends from her church. “Love our people! Missing some people, but so happy to get some time with this great group of friends,” she captioned the post. And her followers seemed to support Jill posting about the other people in her life. “Omg so great to have love & support from other women, whether family or friends,” one follower commented. Another wrote, “Supportive friends are so important, especially while raising young kids. It really takes a village!”
Did Jill not come along due to bad blood with TLC?
There’s been plenty of suspicion over the years regarding where Jill stands with her family. We can’t forget that there are rumors that suggest Derick Dillard doesn’t get along with the Duggars due to the homophobic and transphobic tweets that got him and Jill removed from Counting On in the first place. As an insider once told Radar Online, “Everything that Derick has said has caused the family bad press.” This may have also put Jill at odds with her family.
Not only that, but many have noticed that Jill and Derick are often absent from Duggar family gatherings that everyone else seems to be able to attend. While the couple may just be busy with their own commitments, it does seem odd that they’re missing from so many.
Another reason for Jill’s absence from the family trip may be because it was sponsored by TLC for an episode of Counting On. In this case, she likely wasn’t invited, and the post about the other close people in her life doesn’t have any bearing on how she feels about her own family.
Will Jill and Derick ever make amends with TLC so they can be back on the show? We’re not sure, but fans would definitely love to see all of the Duggars back together again on the small screen!
