Who is Kaia Gerber in ‘American Horror Story’ Season 10?
American Horror Story Season 10 Part 2, Death Valley, officially began in late September 2021. And fans got their first look at the alien portion of the new season, as promised by the various trailers and posters.
TVLine notes the series went all the way back to the ’50s with president Dwight D. Eisenhower at the helm, and here we immediately see multiple alien deaths and an alien autopsy. Then, the series fast-forwards to the present day. Kaia Gerber’s American Horror Story Season 10 debut begins as she takes on the role of Kendall. From there, we see her interact with her other college girl and guy friends as they go on vacation and come into alien contact.
Prior to AHS Season 10, Gerber played Ruby in American Horror Stories. She talked about the difference in her characters to Entertainment Tonight.
“It was a really good transition to go from quite a dark and sometimes mean, for her own reasons, character to a more lighthearted and fun character like Kendall,” she explained. “[Kendall] is very smart and very passionate. And I like that she is the kind of girl who runs toward the scary thing.”
Kaia Gerber said she was ‘confused’ by the alien pregnancy in ‘Double Feature’
In American Horror Story Season 10, Kaia Gerber’s character, Kendall, along with the rest of her friends, gets impregnated by the aliens. According to The Wrap, she spoke about filming that scene — and the confusion that came with the scenario.
“When we got the first script and that was the ending, I was very confused as to how,” she told the publication. “And I remember going to some people on set and just asking the logistics and also how it happened. … Everyone was kind of like, ‘Just don’t ask.’ Because I was very curious, and also my scientific brain and Kendall’s scientific brain were, like, well, how did this happen?? And everyone said, ‘Don’t ask.’ So I actually don’t know how.”
She then added the scene was “very fun” to film. “But I will say it was very hard to say, all four of us are pregnant, with a straight face, just knowing the boys,” she added.
Kaia Gerber notes the 2 ‘American Horror Story’ Season 10 themes tie together
Those watching American Horror Story Season 10 can look forward to a connection between the first part, Red Tide, and the second, Death Valley. Kaia Gerber talked to The Wrap about what she thinks of how it all comes together.
“It’s definitely all connected,” Gerber added. “And I really like how they deal with time. I love that they did the first half in black and white. We got the whole script. So I would read the first half, and the whole time I was trying to figure out how they connected. And I think it ties together in a really cool way. But that’s all I can say.”
American Horror Story Season 10 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. EST on FX and the following day on Hulu.
