Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse win Strictly Come Dancing 2019

Kelvin Fletcher has been announced as the new Strictly Come Dancing champion alongside professional dancer Oti Mabuse.

The 35 year old fought off fierce competition from fellow finalists Emma Barton and Anton Du Beke and Karim Zeroual and Amy Dowden, despite being the favourite to lift the glitter ball trophy.

Former Emmerdale actor Kelvin and Oti, 29, both broke down in tears as they were crowned winners by show hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Kelvin told the hosts and viewers: "I'm absolutely speechless, I did not expect that, it's been such a privelege to be here."

Their victory comes after Kelvin was ushered in as a last minute replacement for Jamie Laing, who hurt his leg during rehearsals for the first live show.

Oti — who has starred on the hit BBC show for the past five years — won the series for the first time alongside the hunky star.

Kelvin and Oti performed three dances in Saturday's final as they battled it out for votes against EastEnderst star Emma and Anton and CBBC host Karim and Amy.

They first performed their rumba, as selected for them by judges Bruno Tonioli, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood.

Their second dance was their showdance, which was described as a "best bits of the last 13 weeks."

Finally, they performed their samba which made them the bookies' favourites to win the series in the very first show.
