Kristin Cavallari and Kelly Henderson's friendship timeline

EARLIER this year, Kristin Cavallari dramatically revealed her friendship with Kelly Henderson was over once and for all.

Now, as the reality TV star announces her split from husband Jay Cutler after ten years together, we take a look at how things fell apart with her BFF…

It was revealed this week that the former The Hills and Laguna Beach stalwart, 33, and her 36-year-old NFL player other half had reportedly accused each other of cheating.

Meanwhile, the mum-of-three's fans have attacked her ex-pal Kelly, 37, over rumours that she had been involved with Jay – despite denials it had anything to do with her.

But what has Kelly got to do with Kristin's marriage? Let's take a look at the timeline of their tumultuous friendship…

Became friends in 2012

Kristin and Kelly have been close for eight years.

They both live in Nashville, Tennessee.

While Kristin runs her jewelry business Uncommon James from the city, Kelly works as a stylist and blogger.

The pair's strong friendship has been documented in Kristin's show Very Cavallari.

Over the years, they have frequently appeared in each other's social media – including glam shopping trips, boozy nights out and exotic holidays to Mexico, New York and Palm Springs.

In January 2019, Kristin shared on Instagram a beach pic with Kelly – plus two other pals – and wrote: "Love these girls so much."

Another snap was accompanied by: "Traffic in Los Angeles is a little more bearable with your best friend by your side."

A third image – this time also featuring Jay – was simply captioned: "Family."

March 2019

In season two of Very Cavallari, Kristin and Jay tried to find long-term singleton Kelly a boyfriend.

The sportsman was seen offering to help her meet new guys, prompting her to ask him if he knew what her type was.

He replied: "Someone that's confident in who they are. Someone that's independent, has their own thing going on. "He's got an artistic streak to him. He leans more toward skinny jeans.

"I don't wanna say he's a hipster, because he might have a corporate job where he wears slim, nice fitting suits."

Kelly confirmed that he was right, and he offered to manage her dating profiles for her.

Suggestions that something was going on between the pair started circulating after a scene showing them getting drinks together, as he continued to help with matchmaking.

At the time, fans took to social media to comment on the apparent flirty chemistry between them – and speculated that they were more than just friends.

January 2020

Kristen revealed in season three of her show that her friendship with Kelly had come to a sudden end last autumn.

She said: "The biggest change in my personal life is that my best friend Kelly and I haven’t talked in two months.

"We’ve had a major falling out and it’s just been breaking my heart.”

The star explained that the cheating rumours had sadly been the beginning of the end.

She explained: "When season two was airing, there was a lot of talk on social media about Jay and Kelly having an affair. Not for one second have I ever thought that it was true.

"It wasn’t the actual accusations of them having an affair that made me upset, it was how Kelly went about it.”

Kristin suggested that her ex-BFF seemed to be wanting to use the moment for her own personal gain.

The mum said her former pal had named Jay on Twitter – seemingly fuelling more discussion.

She explained: "She wanted to post something about it. I was like, ‘Don’t post anything about it! That’s the last thing you do.’ Why do you want to post about that? To get more attention about it.

"If I was accused of having an affair with your husband, I wouldn’t say his f***ing name on social media. Like, like come on!

"It kind of blows my mind. I was like, ‘Here’s how your actions have affected me.’ And she wrote me back and she was really defensive.

"The point is I feel very used. I care way too much about her to just be like, ‘Oh, f*** her,’ or whatever. But I’m not willing to just let it go. And I don’t know if I’m ready to just move on from it."

Speaking to her friend Stephanie Biegel and hairstylist Justin Anderson, she said: “My relationship with Kelly has completely taken a turn. I haven’t seen her or even talked to her.

"She was accused of having an affair with Jay last season of the show. Which fine, I get it, that’s a lot to probably to deal with too.”

Kristin explained that she wrote Kelly an email to explain how the situation was affecting her.

There was some back and forth between them, with her friend being "defensive".

Then Kelly just didn't reply.

Kristin tearfully told producers: "I kept trying to … talk to her about it and tell her how I was feeling, and instead of her just owning her side of it and being like, ‘I’m sorry. Oh my god, that was never my intention,’ or whatever.

"She kept giving me pushback and would get really defensive. … And then she literally just stopped responding to me. That, to me, is such a slap in the face. You don’t care? Good to know."

In another episode during the season, Kelly spoke to Justin – who was mediating between the women – and shared her side.

She explained: "I got a f**king text that I did not interpret to be very nice.

"I think she thinks I’m texting just because of the show. I don’t understand, though — if I only cared about the show, I would have been like, up her a** to try to be on [it].”

Responding to the accusations, Kelly has said they are “not true” and the “most f**king stupid thing ever."
