Love is Blind follows singletons as they get to know each other in pods but their romantic date comes with a twist, they aren’t able to see each other. The Netflix series aims to connect people through their personalities without an instant physical attraction. If the show wasn’t bizarre enough, the participants must make a snap judgement on whether to take their new budding relationship to the next level. For the couples who hit off, they get engaged before their all-important first look at the partner when standing at the altar. Showrunner Chis Coelen has divulged behind-the-scenes secrets which have led to engagements being cut by the show’s editors.

Speaking about the show, Chris confessed the series editors are provided with hours of content which the team have to work through.

He revealed: “They’re literally tens of 1000s of hours of content that we filmed, we just tried to pick the stories that we were going to tell.”

Letting viewers into a secret, the TV writer said: “There were actually two other couples that you don’t see on the show, two other couples got engaged.”

Although viewers weren’t introduced to both couples, the TV producer told Love is Blind fans about the engaged partners and whether they stuck together.

He claimed: “I think that one of those couples is still together but not married, is what I’m understanding, and the other one has broken up.

“I can’t confirm that with 100 per cent accuracy, but that’s what I believe,” Chris told Metro.

But if the two missed engagements weren’t enough to surprise fans, the US showrunner also said Love is Blind viewers only get a brief glimpse of what happens beyond the pods.

In fact, there are very complicated dates taking place, including shared movie nights, takeaways and mini-golf.

He explained: ‘Let’s say you wanted to watch a movie together, we would bring in a monitor and they could watch the same movie simultaneously

“Or [if they say], ‘We want to order Mexican food tonight, or Chinese food, or whatever’, we’ll bring it in for them.”

With matters close to the heart, it comes as no shock to hear some unlucky lovers are rejected at the proposal stage.

As a result, one heartbroken contestant made the decision to leave the experiment.

In the show’s latest season, 12 out of the 30 contestants have managed to form deeper connections in the pods, but will they make it down the aisle?

Natalie Lee and Shayne Jansen were one of the couples to make it official and took their relationship to the next stage.

After the all-important proposal, the lovebirds were swept away to Mexico for a romantic getaway.

It looked as though Natalie and Shayne could really hit it off, but judging by the upcoming episodes, after Natalie is left in tears, it has led some to believe their lust has come crashing to a tragic end.

Meanwhile, Kyle Abrams and Shaina Hurley took to each other almost instantly.

But shortly after popping the question, Shaina began to worry whether the pair’s religious differences could put a strain on their relationship.

Cracks began to appear during their holiday getaway but in the moments which followed, Shaina left the trip early.

Love is Blind season 2 is on Netflix now, with new episodes airing on February 18
