Love Island bosses announce official start date for Winter series

Love Island bosses have revealed the official start date for the Winter series.

The hotly anticipated ITV2 show will return to screens again on January 12.

With the brand new winter version of the show being broadcast from South Africa, a whole host of singletons looking for love will fly out there.

It was previously thought the show would start a few days earlier on 8 January.

The exciting news was revealed on the Love Island official Twitter.

They broke the news to their 1.1m followers saying:: "Inflatables at the ready… we’re back on January 12th!" finishing with the hashtag "Love Island".

Love Island's sizzling announcement comes a matter of days after Caroline Flack confirmed she was stepping down from her presenting role on the show.

The presenter took to social media to share her news.

She posted on Instagram this morning: "There have been a significant number of media reports and allegations in regards to my personal life.

"While matters were not as have been reported, I am committed to cooperating with the appropriate authorities and I can’t comment further on these matters until the legal process is over.

"However, Love Island has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on Telly.

"In order not to detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is stand down for series six. I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town."

The 40-year-old TV presenter was charged "following a private domestic incident", reportedly involving boyfriend Lewis Burton.

She was arrested in Islington, north London, after an incident at approximately 5.25am on Thursday after reports of a man being assaulted.

Police did not name the man but they said he was not seriously injured.

Six police cars were pictured outside the 40-year-old's London home in the early hours of Thursday morning after police said they were called to a "domestic disturbance'".

The Metropolitan Police said on Friday that she had been charged with assault by beating and although they did not name the man in question they said he was not seriously injured.
