Lucifer season five will be back with the final eight episodes later this year as the cast of the devilish drama reunite. The show is expected to drop on Netflix in 2021 after its first eight episodes arrived back in August 2020 but there have been several huge delays to the show since. Express.co.uk has rounded up everything you need to know about the release date, cast, trailer and plot of the new part of the show.
When is Lucifer season 5, part 2 released on Netflix?
The first half of season five landed on Netflix back on August 21, 2020.
However, at the time fans were warned not to expect the final eight episodes any time soon.
This is because they were delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic shutting down production when filming episode 16.
Thankfully at the end of 2020, it was announced filming had been able to conclude on season five as post-production began.
Since then, fans have been patiently waiting for any news about the new episodes’ release date.
Now it has finally been confirmed the new episodes will be out on Friday, May 28.
This was confirmed on the show’s official Twitter account.
They wrote on March 29: “We know that more episodes are what you truly desire. Season 5B arrives on Netflix May 28th.”
Who is in the cast of Lucifer season 5, part 2?
All of the major stars of Lucifer will be back for the second half of season five.
This means viewers will get to see Tom Ellis, Lauren German, DB Woodside, Aimee Garcia, Kevin Alejandro, Lesley-Ann Brandt and Rachael Harris return.
However, there will also be some new additions to the cast as well with Dennis Haysbert cast to play God.
As well as this, Netflix has confirmed Supernatural star Rob Benedict and Friday Night Lights actor Scott Porter will also both be appearing.
Other new additions include Allison McAtee, Catherine Dent and Teri Reeves.

What will happen in Lucifer season 5, part 2?
The plot of Lucifer’s return is mainly under wraps at the moment with only a few hints dropped about what will come next.
Fans do know God (played by Dennis Haysbert) will be playing a big role in the show going forward after he was introduced at the end of episode eight.
However, just how he will be integrated into the story has not yet been disclosed.
As well as this, the episode titles have been confirmed and they will include a special musical episode for viewers to enjoy.
Co-showrunner Joe Henderson has also revealed more drama could be on its way for Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis).
Speaking during Baltimore Comic-Con, he said: “We are the biggest Deckerstar shippers next to you guys.
“But we know the fun of it is just because a couple is together doesn’t mean there won’t be roadblocks.
“But at the same time, we respect the fact the amount of emotional investment that our fans have put into the characters is because we put them in there.
“So much of the story going forward is the story of love but the story of love is… so often it is a story of challenges.
“And I think what I love about it is that challenges make a romance feel all the more earned.”
Just what this means will only be revealed when the series returns to the streaming platform.

Is there a trailer for Lucifer season 5, part 2?
No, there has been no official trailer released yet for the second half of season five.
This is likely to only come out closer to its official release date on Netflix.
However, there have been a few clips dropped of the show so far.
This includes a trailer for the musical episode, which shows the team singing ‘Another One Bites the Dust.’
As well as this, Netflix released a short clip of Chloe Decker (Lauren German) in the moments after the end of episode eight, asking where Lucifer has gone.
Finally, the streaming platform also teased fans with a look at God telling Lucifer: “I’ve come to ask you something.”
Lucifer season 5, part 1 is available on Netflix now.
