MAREN Morris revealed she had to have an emergency c-section after 30 hours of labor with her first child during an “eerie” time of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 29-year-old country singer and husband Ryan Hurd, 33, welcomed son Hayes Andrew Hurd on March 23 and the proud parents gushed their newborn was already the "love of our lives.”
Four days after her baby boy was born, the Grammy winner shared with fans the emotional delivery process underwent at their Nashville, Tennessee hospital.
The Girl singer wrote to her 1.4 million Instagram followers alongside a picture of Hayes being held by his dad: "30 hours of labor ended with an emergency c-section…
“Not what we planned but I learned pretty quickly that night that having a plan for bringing a human into the world is a fool’s errand. All that mattered was that he got here safely.”
Maren then expressed the challenges she faced with her husband-of-two-years as she delivered their baby during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Having him in the middle of a global health crisis was also not in the baby prep books, but here we are.
“Holding him and healing my body in a maternity ward that’s eerily quiet from us not being allowed visitors or family at this time, but strangely serene.
"All we hear are monitors beeping and the coos of our infant son. Maybe the sound of the 100th episode of The Office @ryanhurd and I have binged while in here,” she said of their “favorite” TV show.
The Middle songstresses then showed her admiration for the doctors and nurses that “took care” of her family-of-three during the COVID-19 outbreak.
"They risked their health every day to make sure ours was okay. I can’t think of anything more selfless than that.
“Ultimately, I can’t thank every single mother enough for going through what you’ve gone through because I had NO idea how hard it could be, and I’m a measly 4 days in.
“The world is changing before our eyes and so am I. That’s been a peaceful thing to cling to during these uncertain times. Thinking of you all,” she concluded her post.
The first-time parents made the announcement on Instagram earlier this week with a series of intimate photos taken moments after Hayes arrived into the world.
In one picture, a makeup-free Maren held her son close to her chest on the hospital bed and her country crooner husband flashed a big smile as he also held his little boy.
The Bones lyricist also shared a touching moment of the loving parents going in for a kiss with their little boy laying in the medical bed next to his mama.
Southern duo Maren and Ryan announced they were expecting their first child together in October 2019.
After dating for more than three years, the couple tied-the-knot in a rustic Nashville ceremony in March 2018.
