Mark Wright thinks wife Michelle Keegan couldn't handle Strictly Come Dancing as she'd be 'too nervous'

MARK Wright thinks wife Michelle Keegan couldn't handle Strictly Come Dancing as she'd be "too nervous".

For a number of years, the former Coronation Street actress has been linked to the BBC One dancing show every time a new line-up is imminent, however she is yet to take part.

However husband Mark,  32, is returning to the dance floor for a second time in the Christmas Special, having reached the semi-finals in 2014.

When asked if he thought his 32-year-old wife would ever follow in his footsteps, Mark told The Sun Online: "I
don't think she… she might. I mean never say never.

"But she, I just think her nerves would go to another level, she gets quite nervous.

"I mean I do, I'm a bit more like, 'come on, let’s just have it!'

"I'm not sure she's… whenever she watches me or when I've sent her the dance before she's like, 'I don’t know how you do it!'"

Mark originally danced with Karen Hauer but has been paired with Janette Manrara for the Christmas Special.

While Mark was pleased with his partner, he wasn't initially impressed with the dance style they had been allocated.

The star – who was never a fan of ballroom – revealed: "You’re not supposed to change. You don't want to look like you're trying to request anything.

"So I was like polite 'please, I’m coming back once, and once only, just let me do a fast dance'.

"I didn't get to choose what dance but I just gave me a faster dance."

The couple are now dancing a salsa, and Mark is certainly in safe hands with salsa queen herself, Janette.

He said: "Janette was so good. I remember she was with Jake Wood my year, and the tricks and the lifts they used to do.

"I remember thinking if I didn't have Karen[Hauer], I’d f***ing love to have Janette.

"So when I got Janette I was like, 'yes!' First day I was like, 'Janette, just make me lift you, that’s all I want to do', and we’ve done loads."

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special airs on Christmas Day at 4.40pm on BBC One.
