It truly is the end of an era in EastEnders, as Max Branning (Jake Wood) bids farewell to Walford.
The mainstay has made it his mission to win Linda Carter’s (Kellie Bright) affection, following their brief dalliance last year.
However, his plans to do so have ultimately failed time and again, with Linda having made clear that their fling — if one could even call it that — meant nothing to her.
With Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) having revealed the truth about Mick’s (Danny Dyer) abuse, Max came to believe that Linda was staying with her hubby out of pity, instead of love.
Of course viewers know that this isn’t the truth, as Linda very much loves Mick, and chose him because he’s her soulmate.
Max’s plan to win Linda back ultimately hit yet another obstacle during the latest episode, when the former car salesman revealed to Linda that he knew about Mick’s abuse.
Linda seethed, and reported Jack to the police, while Mick lashed out and punching Max across the face.
In Friday’s edition (February 19) of the BBC One soap, Linda reiterates that she wants nothing to do with Max, and orders him to leave.
Max ultimately does just that.
Following in Linda’s footsteps, Jack offers Max some advice, as he tells him to leave Walford.
EastEnders airs these scenes Friday February 19 at 8pm on BBC One.
