NCIS wouldn’t be the same without the chipper Jimmy Palmer (played by Brian Dietzen), who is always in everyone’s corner, ready to provide moral support and a shoulder to lean on. As of late, Jimmy has been at the heart of a romantic storyline with Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), with their relationship blossoming with every episode. CBS fans have been delighted with their love story, especially following the devastating loss of his wife Breena Palmer (Michelle Pierce) in season 19.

NCIS star Brian Dietzen has been a household name since joining the internationally famous cast in 2004.
He had been deemed a recurring character for several years until he was finally made a series regular in 2012.
His character Jimmy Palmer then received the well-deserved promotion of chief medical examiner when Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) semi-retired three years ago.
Unfortunately, not all of Dietzen’s loved ones have been around to see the progression he has made in the CBS police procedural.
Actor Brian Dietzen was born in Barrington, Illinois, with his parents moving the family to Colorado not long after he was born.
Very little is known about his mum and dad as Dietzen has preferred to keep them out of the spotlight.
But last year, the star shared a very personal post about his beloved mum who died eight years ago.
Alongside a cute childhood photo, Dietzen described how he has lived his life trying to be like her.

Dietzen wrote: “Seven years ago today, a beautiful soul left this Earth.
“My mom had a way of making me feel special no matter the occasion.
“She delighted in the smallest wonders of this world and appreciated everyone’s part in it.
“She had an amazing way of making everyone feel seen and loved. I always joked that my mom had somewhere around 345 best friends. (It’s kind of true).
“I try my hardest to emulate these traits of hers. I try to find the positive and make myself available to any friend who may need me.
“I try to appreciate the small things. They contain some of life’s biggest lessons.”

Dietzen then went on to explain how the artwork of human heads in Jimmy’s office was actually drawn by his late mum.
He wrote: “The second picture are a couple of drawings from my mom’s sketchbook.
“They’re hung up at my work office above Jimmy Palmer’s desk at NCIS.
“I love that I get to see an artistic piece of her every day at work, and I’m proud that she’s a small part of our show’s family.” (sic)
The NCIS actor now has a family of his own, having been married to his wife Kelly Dietzen since 2004.
The couple share two children but have never shared pictures of them online or their names, in order to maintain their privacy.
He did previously write in a Mother’s Day post that their kids had “lucked out” by having Kelly as their mum.
NCIS season 20 continues every Monday on CBS in the USA. A UK release date hasn’t been announced.
