New Strictly contestant Chris Ramsey's wife jokes show curse has already kicked in as he fails to call her after announcement

CHRIS Ramsey’s wife Rosie joked that the Strictly Come Dancing curse had already kicked in as he failed to call her after his announcement.

The social media star took to her Instagram last night after it was revealed the comedian had joined the line-up and referenced the infamous curse, which is known for splitting up couples.

Rosie, who is currently on holiday in Rhodes with their son, said:  “So yeah, very exciting announcement, I don’t want to start rumours but he said he was going to ring after.

“He was on the One Show half an hour ago. It’s started already; I knew it would happen.”

She later appeased her fans as she revealed: “He rang, our marriage is safe. I’m really looking forward to having something to actually do on a Saturday night.”

But she hinted she was feeling slightly jealous about him landing such a big gig, telling fans: “As always your supports for stuff in incredible! Feel like it’s me doing it! (Wish it was. Not bitter. Bit Bitter. It’s all good).”

Rosie and Chris tied the knot in 2014 and are parents to a son called Robin.

Last year they revealed Rosie tragically suffered a miscarriage – a routine 12-week scan for their second child revealed the baby was no longer there.

The couple have won a legion of fans together thanks to their hit podcast Sh**ged Married Annoyed.

Last night Chris was amongst the first three contestants announced for the series, alongside David James and Emma Barton.

Comedian Chris said he was "really buzzing" about the opportunity.

He joked that he had struggled to keep it a secret and had told a few friends he was taking part.

He said: "You will not find me on the dance floor at parties, you will find me at the buffet table. All night.

“At my wedding I danced with my wife; that one song took about six months practice, and I definitely stood on her feet a couple of times.

“So I'm looking forward to the possibility of making a fool of myself in front of millions of people … there better be a buffet after the live shows."

Chris, 32, is a regular on stand up and panel shows as well as hosting his own comedy show.

In 2016 he hosted I'm A Celebrity spin off Extra Camp alongside Joe Swash, Vicky Pattison and Stacey Solomon.
