Amanda Owen, 46, yelled at 56-year-old Clive as they attempted to move sheep while working at Ravenseat Farm, one of the most remote farms in the country. The couple are raising their nine children on the farm with a unique lifestyle documented in Channel 5’s Our Yorkshire Farm. One episode from series two saw Clive making an error while herding the sheep, causing Amanda to snap at him as she rushed around the farm, chasing after the unruly flock.
The two were working to attempt to relocate the sheep, with their youngest two children, Clemmy and Nancy, in tow.
“The little ones are just like sheepdogs, they’re just kind of running around, enjoying themselves,” Amanda explained.
“They learn really quickly by being around the sheep and being with us when we’re working.”
But the flock soon started to roam around of their own accord, causing chaos. Amanda shouted: “Clemmy, go that way,” trying to instruct her daughter where to lead the sheep.
Clive soon joined to attempt to get the sheep where they needed to be, but he’d forgotten to block the escape route, meaning the sheep were able to get out of the area again.
“Ah man, we’re in a mess now,” Clive yelled over the flock.
“Why didn’t you shut the gate?” Amanda shouted to Clive.
Referring to the escaped animals, Clive replied: “Stop them there!”
“But why didn’t you shut the gate? Amanda repeated, running after the sheep to contain them.
She added: “I don’t know why he didn’t shut the gate! Country code.”
“There you are,” added Clive. “That was a bit hairy but we made it.”
With 950 lambs still to sort and send to the moors, the family also has to care for horses and cows.
The husband and wife have built up a huge following of viewers who are fascinated to learn how they juggle the 2,000-acre North Yorkshire farm as well as bring up their children.
Later in the episode, viewers caught a glimpse of the way in which all of the family get stuck in to support the farm.
Straight off the school bus after a day of learning, 10-year-old Edith and nine-year-old Violet tended to their Shetland pony, Joe.
“It does stink and it’s not the most fun job,” said Edith. “It’s one of those jobs that you have to do.
“I like having the horses because you can ride them.”
She continued: “I think my mum likes horses more than my dad. Dad has tried to ride horses before but he can’t get off them.
“He gets stuck but mum likes riding horses and I like riding horses.”
