Piers Morgan has revealed he’s been ‘bombarded’ with messages from former friend Donald Trump begging for support just months after he was unfollowed on Twitter.
The Good Morning Britain presenter shared with co-host Susanna Reid and audiences that he’d received an email from the President of the United States yesterday which read that he ‘needs him now more than ever’.
Susanna admitted that the message sounded ‘creepy’ and that she wouldn’t have oepned it because it ‘sounds like a scam’.
‘The sheer volume that I’ve had from him and his team,’ Piers remarked.
‘These automated emails to his “supposed” supporters has been a literal bombardment over the last week.
‘It shows me that they’re panicking, they must be panicking [as] I’ve never had it before. So there’s a real battle now.’
He continued: ‘We’ve got 130 odd days until election and there’s a general sense in America [that] they just can’t cope with four more years of Trump.
‘It’s just so exhausting. And of course, all of the reasons he was doing well in all of the polls in January have disintegrated. The economy’s disintegrated, the public health crisis is exploding…’
Trump unfollowed ‘good friend’ Piers on Twitter back in April after the Good Morning Britain host called him out for ‘senseless’ coronavirus comments.
The US president seemed to be in a huff after Piers said his theory – where he claimed injecting disinfectants may cure the virus – was a ‘shameful new low.’
Sharing the news, Piers took to Twitter and said: ‘UPDATE: President @realDonaldTrump has unfollowed me on Twitter, hours after I wrote this @DailyMail column.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
