Pointless’ Alexander Armstrong reveals Bradley Walsh interrupts rival BBC show

Alexander Armstrong was welcomed on to This Morning today to discuss his stand up tour, All Mouth and Some Trousers. However when hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby probed Alexander on his upcoming project, the presenter dropped a surprising Pointless bombshell involving Bradley Walsh.

Discussing his TV career, Alexander said: “I love all of it, I think Pointless I find particularly nourishing because there’s a lot of comedy.”

“I don’t know how much of it makes it to air, not much of it.”

Phillip added: “I love Pointless,” to which Holly agreed.

“Richard and I make each other laugh and it’s a real nice way of spending your day,” Alexander continued.

Phillip interjected asking his thoughts on rival quiz show The Chase filming in a studio next to Pointless.

He said: “I didn’t realise The Chase is filmed in the studio next door.”

“I know isn’t that mad!” Alexander remarked.

Despite the light-hearted rivalry The Chase host may be set to swap the ITV show for studio next door.

The Pointless host explained Bradley often walks into the BBC quiz show’s studio filming.

“Bradley comes in all the time,” Alexander revealed. “He doesn’t have an audience…”

He then told Phillip and Holly that he knows when Bradley has wandered in because of the Pointless audiences’ reaction.

“Suddenly we’ll hear the audience go mad and you think ‘What the?’ and there’s Brad sitting at Richard’s desk,” he confessed.

Phillip said: “So he comes in just to lift himself up, comes in and plays to your audience.”

Squashing any rumours of competition between the quiz shows, Alexander added: “It’s always lovely to see him.”

During his appearance on This Morning, the Pointless host revealed what fans can expect from his new stand-up show.

He explained: “They’re kind of stories from my early career and how I ended up doing the thing I do.”

Alexander added that before he appeared on TV, he used to do voice over work for a number of campaigns.

“Before anyone knew who I was they’d heard my voice a million times,” he said.

Recalling a particularly unusual project, he explained: “I did a campaign for a broadsheet newspaper, with a megaphone, they sent me out onto the streets with a megaphone.

“I had to run around saying ‘Free thinkers welcome’ just with this megaphone. It was mad.”

The Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
