THE real reason why Netflix 'axe' popular shows has finally been revealed.
Bosses at the streaming giant have axed a number of shows recently which left fans furious.
In a shock move last month it revealed it had axed five shows after they failed to attract a large audience.
Those in that category include comedy drama Glamorous, alongside animated series Agent Elvis, Farzar and Captain Fall.
And now it's been revealed how Netflix chiefs decide what shows survive and which are sent to the TV graveyard.
They use a metric called 'completion rate' which tells them the exact number of viewers who watched a show until the end.

It allows them to see just how much of a fan base a show has and if it's worthy of another series.
Drama First Kill, which debuted in 2021, was axed after just one series despite having more viewers than Heartstopper.
That's because despite having a bigger audience, more viewers watched the entirety of Heartstopper than First Kill.
It's believed the viewing completion rate for any show to get renewed has to be over 50%.

Meanwhile, The Sun revealed how the creators of The Crown are planning a sequel featuring raunchy royal stories on Netflix — including Fergie’s toe-sucking scandal.
Prince Andrew’s romance with US former actress Koo Stark could also be included, executive producer Andy Harries revealed.
