Pressure has mounted on Gray Atkins (Toby Alexander-Smith) in EastEnders ever since he was suspended and his law firm dropped Whitney Dean’s (Shona McGarty) case – so he is more determined than ever that, at her next bail hearing, she is given a fair shot at getting out of prison.
While either way, she will still have to face a trial, she is struggling to cope in the confines of prison and, having gone on a hunger strike, she ended up collapsing as her body couldn’t cope with the strain.
Gray’s strain starts to become clear as he heads over to Sonia Fowler’s (Natalie Cassidy) house and she sees his demeanour – and back home, he is also struggling to keep his temper under control after he injured Chantelle (Jessica Plummer) and he shocked by the consequences of his actions and vows, once again, that he will change.
As for Whitney, a couple of discoveries about Leo’s own actions look set to go in her favour as Gray is satisfied to realise something that has been missed – is the truth about Leo’s stalking campaign and about him hiding in the attic set to come to light and will this prove how dangerous he was to Whitney?

As she takes the stand again, praying that she will be allowed to go home, Gray has a fight on his hands and he reveals the new found information, which leaves everyone, including Whitney, shocked.
But will it be enough to guarantee that Whitney can come back? And if so, will it give her fresh hope in the fight for justice?
Or is another setback looming?
