Strictly: Annabel Croft discusses late husband with Johannes
Strictly Come Dancing star Johannes Radebe was wiping away former tennis player Annabel Croft’s tears following a tribute to her husband who died earlier this year.
Tess Daly, Claudia Winkleman, and the fabulous judges have all returned for Strictly 2023 with a new line-up of celebrities who cannot wait to put on their dancing shoes.
The BBC competition welcomes talent from all walks of life from soap stars and reality TV personalities, to those from the world of sports, including ex-tennis player Annabel Croft.
Fittingly, she met her professional dance partner Johannes at Wimbledon and was clearly overjoyed to be matched with him.
As the pair sat down to talk, Annabel opened up on why it meant so much for Johannes to teach her to dance.

Annabel explained: “Being paired with Johannes is just incredible. I am quite overwhelmed I’m going to be dancing with him.”
Talking to the man himself, she continued: “I can’t tell you what this means, to be dancing with you.
“I just wish you had met my husband, because I have these flashbacks to our house and him watching you with tears running down his face.
“Honestly, it’s so special, it’s beyond anything I could put into words.”
Johannes told the 57-year-old she would make him proud and proceeded to give her a big hug.

The pair were then seen in the studio as they were interviewed by Tess and Claudia.
Once again tearing up and telling them about Johannes, she said: “I’ve got the best partner I could possibly wish for, honestly, he’s so special, you’re so special and it’s such an honour and a privilege to be dancing with you.”
In response, Johannes kindly said: “It’s a pleasure my darling. For the first week, I’m going to take you through your paces my darling, but the most important thing is that we have fun. Like we said we’re going to.”
But seeing his partner getting emotional, Johannes gently dabbed at Annabel’s eyes and said: “It’s a pleasure, don’t cry.”
Annabel was married to her husband Mel Coleman for 30 years but earlier this year, he started complaining of stomach pain for a couple of months.
He was then diagnosed with stage three cancer and tragically died just eight weeks after it was discovered in May.
Annabel is now taking part in Strictly in memory of her late husband.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday, September 23, at 6.15pm on BBC One.
