What is the release date for season four?
Succession fans received the good news of season four on Tuesday, October 26, with HBO quickly confirming the renewal of the series.
It comes as no surprise for viewers, with the show continually building in popularity as it sweeps up awards with each new season.
HBO has not confirmed the release date of the next season, but it will likely come in late-2022, with another expected premiere of October.
Production on season four is already underway, though it is not known when filming will be due to start.
It is likely filming will begin in the new year, putting it on track for the late-2022 release window.
Who is in the cast of season four?
The cast for season four is similarly unconfirmed, though it is expected that all the main Roy family members will once again be making an appearance.
In season three, Brian Cox is back leading the series as Logan Roy, the patriarch of the Roy media dynasty.
Orbiting him is a powerhouse ensemble cast of including Roman Roy (played by Kieran Culkin), Shiv Roy (Sarah Snook), and Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong).
Rounding out the main cast is Connor Roy (Alan Ruck), Marcie Roy (Hiam Abbass), Frank Vernon (Peter Friedman), and Greg Hirsch (Nicholas Braun).
Depending on the plot developments of season three, all the main cast will be returning.
Is there a trailer for season four?
Currently, there is no trailer for the fourth season as filming has not started.
However, with the news of season four can a shower of praise for the series, with EVP, HBO Programming, Francesca Orsi teasing season four.
Orsi explained: “With each season of Succession, Jesse Armstrong has continued to surpass our wildest expectations, pulling us deeper into the Roy family’s inner sanctum with indelible wit, humanity, and precision.
“This season is undoubtedly no exception, and we couldn’t be more excited for all that’s in store in this next season ahead.”
The earliest a trailer will likely come is summer 2022, once season three has concluded and filming has wrapped.
What is the plot of season four?
The dust will need to settle from season three before any educated guesses on season four’s plot can be made.
HBO has not released a teaser or synopsis for season four, as season three has only just premiered.
Season three is seeing the Roy family descend into an all-out family civil war, with Logan and Kendall at the heart of a bitter feud following season two’s conclusion.
However, the show clearly has a time limit, and fans are curious to know if season four will be the final instalment.
Ahead of season three’s premiere, creator and showrunner Jesse Armstrong spoke to Variety about when Succession could come to an end.
“I don’t want to say,” Armstrong stressed, adding: “All I know is there’s a promise in the ‘Succession’ title, and it can’t go on forever.
“It’s important for me, I think, as a showrunner to have a pitch for my fellow collaborators, especially the writers.
“But it’s not immutable. That’s up for discussion. But I do have a pitch for how I think it goes.”
Succession season 3 is airing Sundays at 9pm EST on HBO in the USA. New episodes air Mondays at 9pm on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
