Spooky dolls continues to be a popular horror sub-genre, with both Annabelle and Chucky featuring in successful movies last year. The scary porcelain doll Brahms will make a return next month in the sequel to 2016’s The Boy, and the first trailer has been released.
Brahms: The Boy II focuses on different characters to the first movie. Katie Holmes (Logan Lucky, Ray Donovan) and Owain Yeoman (Emergence) play a married couple who move to spooky Heelshire Mansion with their son Jude. The kid finds Brahms buried on the grounds and brings him into house. But of course, he’s more than just a doll and soon spooky things start happening. If you saw the original movie, you’ll be aware of its surprising twist, so it’ll be interesting to see how this follow-up plays out. Check the trailer out below.
Brahms: The Boy II is directed by William Brent Bell, who helmed The Boy as well as the found footage possession movie The Devil Inside. It also stars Christoper Convery (Gotham), Ralph Ineson (The Witch), and Anjali Jay (Power Rangers) and releases on February 21, 2020.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Holmes spoke about working with the movie’s scary doll. “I love dolls, so I had a conflict because I had so many growing up,” she said. “I never thought of a doll being creepy, and now I have to rethink everything. This was pretty terrifying to make when we were working with the doll, it was a lot. I was scared.”
