THE psychological thriller is coming soon to BBC and tells the story of a woman whose new minimalist home comes with a bizarre set of conditions.
The Girl Before is adapted from JP Delaney's book by the same name and stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelowo, Jessica Plummer, and Ben Hardy.
Where is The Girl Before filmed?
Filming for the BBC One drama began at various locations in Bristol in spring 2021, with assistance from Bristol Film Office.
The drama is directed by Killing Eve's Lisa Brühlmann, and book author JP Delaney created, wrote and executive produced the series, alongside co-writing from screenwriter Marissa Lestrade.
The novel has a 4.3 out of 5 rating on Amazon with nearly 5,000 reviews, so fans of the book will be able to see the drama play out on screen.
The house that the book revolves around is a beautiful new minimalist build created by architect Edward.
However, the property – One Folgate Street – is full of secrets, and occupants must live by Edward's specific set of rules.
Some filming took place on Woodland Terrace off Hampton Road in Redland, where the set of the house in question was built.
The Bottle Yard Studios
Filming largely took place at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, on purpose-built sets.
The studios are the largest dedicated film and TV studio facility in the west of England and many big productions have been filmed there.
The Girl Before was just one of four major dramas filming at the studio in the spring of 2021.
The others were Showtrial and Chloe for the BBC and The Long Call for ITV.
Many other shows have been filmed at the studios including Stephen Merchant's dark-comedy The Outlaws, and ITV's Sanditon.
As well as this the studios are the filming location of several popular game shows such as Tipping Point, The Crystal Maze, and Deal or No Deal.
When is The Girl Before on and how can I watch it?
