The Secrets She Keeps began on BBC One this evening and the Australian psychological thriller saw two women, who were both heavily pregnant. Meghan (played by Jessica De Gouw) lives an apparently perfect life in the affluent suburb of Sydney, while Agatha (Laura Carmichael) who is single and working in a supermarket lives in a scruffy rundown flat. But viewers ‘rumbled’ the plot within minutes after calling out Agatha and her shady behaviour.
Agatha ignored several calls and voicemails from someone called Nicky, but she couldn’t avoid him forever as he turned up outside her place of work.
Agatha asked: “What are you doing here? I was afraid you would be upset, didn’t know how to tell you,” she said in reference to her pregnancy.
“Your mother didn’t mention it when she called me,” he replied revealing he was her step-father.
“I didn’t want to tell her until after the baby’s born. So please, don’t mention it if you speak to her again,” Agatha begged but Nicky argued: “Don’t you think your mum deserves to know she’s about to be a grandma?”
“The truth is, I didn’t want to tell anyone, not after last time. We named her, our little girl. We lost her at 32 weeks Nicky until this baby’s here, it doesn’t feel real,” Agatha explained.

“So how did you do it? How did you get pregnant?” Nicky asked but was shut down by Agatha: “Let’s not go there.”
Nicky remarked: “You won the lottery? That’s what he said wasn’t it? The specialist said it would be like winning the lottery!”
Clearly annoyed, Agatha shut down: “He also said sometimes these things happen when you stop IVF. Sometimes that’s how it works.”
Agatha then said she had used a sperm donor, but later on, in the episode, she spoke to a man who was in the Royal Navy and told him he was the father of her unborn baby.
Something didn’t add up for viewers and they suggested she was faking her pregnancy and there was no baby.
Taking to Twitter, one said: “#TheSecretsSheKeeps very sensible to plan which baby you’re going to steal beforehand, while you add to your padding…”
“Get the feeling her pregnancy isn’t real…#TheSecretsSheKeeps,” another remarked.
Someone else added: “Deffo not preggers #TheSecretsSheKeeps.”
“I don’t think she’s even pregnant #TheSecretsSheKeeps,” one commented.
A viewer wrote: “#TheSecretsSheKeeps Is Agatha really pregnant?”
“I’ll guess that that Aggie woman isn’t really pregnant and is planning to steal Megan’s baby. Although I’m usually wrong. #thesecretsshekeeps,” a Twitter user remarked.
And fans didn’t have to wait long until the truth about Agatha’s pregnancy was revealed.
Following a robbery at the supermarket when she was on shift, she returned home and started bleeding.
When she went to the bathroom, she stripped off and a fake pregnancy cushion emerged.
Some didn’t expect the ending, while others predicted it all along.
“Was not expecting that ending #TheSecretsSheKeeps,” one said.
Another added: “#TheSecretsSheKeeps honestly didn’t see that coming.”
