Due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, it is difficult to predict the shows return date, but judging by the previous three seasons, February 2021 is not entirely off the cards.

The series always airs first on the USA Network before arriving on Netflix worldwide atleast two months later and season four is likely to follow suit.

The third series will premeire this Friday (June 19) on Netflix.

Announcing the renewal,Chris McCumber, President, USA Network and SYFY said: “The Sinner has struck a chord with audiences with its signature ‘whydunnit’ style.”

Who is in the cast of The Sinner season 4?

The first three seasons of The Sinner have followed Detective Harry Ambrose, played by Bill Pullman and the twisted murder cases he has been tasked with investigating.

The USA Network has confirmed that Pullman will reprise his role as Detective Ambrose for the fourth season.

However, as The Sinner is an anthology series, the cast from season three is unlikely to feature in the fourth outing.

Sadly, this means Matt Bomer is unlikely to return as Jamie Burns and Chris Messina as Nick Haas.

Bomer had succeded Jessica Biel and Carrie Coon, who starred opposite Pullman in season one and two, respectively.

Jessica Hecht, Parisa Fitz-Henley and Eddie Martinez are also unlikely to be back.

So far, The Trial of the Chicago 7’s Alice Kremelberg has been announced as joining the cast.

Kremelberg will take on the role of  Percy Muldoon, who will star opposite lead Bill Pullman.

What will happen in The Sinner season 4?

As The Sinner is an anthology series, it is almost impossible to predict what will happen in the fourth series.

The first series of The Sinner saw Detective Ambrose devlve into the past of Cora Tanetti (played by Jessica Biel) to find out why she stabbed a man to death.

Season two saw Ambrose investigate a cult in upstate New York, which led to the dissapearance of local residents and the murder of two parents by a young boy naed Julian (Elisha Henig).

The most recent series follows Ambrose and his investigation of a fatal car accident in Upstate New York.

Luckily there has been some clues dropped about the new series.

Announcing the series renewal, Chris McCumber, President, USA Network and SYFY teased: “In season four, we’re excited to dig even deeper into the psyche of Bill Pullman’s beloved Detective Ambrose character, while introducing our audience to a compelling, completely new mystery.”
