Phillip Schofield has been left ‘heartbroken’ following the news that one of his former Joseph colleagues has died.
The This Morning host, who starred in Joseph And The Technicolor Dreamcoat from 1992 to 1997, took to social media to pay his respects.
Phillip paid an emotional tribute to Kate Young, who was one of the musical directors for the Andrew Lloyd Webber West End musical.
Sharing a photo of his friend, Phillip penned on Twitter: ‘Heartbroken to hear of the passing of Kate Young who was one of my musical directors during my Joseph years.
‘Kind, funny, so talented, wonderfully bonkers and totally delightful. So sad. All my love to her family.’
Sending their condolences to the TV host and Kate’s family, one follower tweeted: ‘So sorry to hear this, thoughts are with Kate’s family and friends and all that had the privilege to work with her x RIP Kate x.’
Another commented: ‘Sending hugs your way Phillip xxx.’
Some even shared their own fond memories of working with Kate on the West End.
‘I was in the kids’ choir in Manchester and was devastated you were not Joseph. Amazing Kate arranged for me to meet you at Edinburgh Playhouse. She was a brilliant woman, I have fantastic memories of her x,’ one follower recalled.
While another remembered: ‘I was in the Joseph choir for the Edinburgh performances in the early 90’s. Kate was fantastic with us. Very sad x.’
Phillip took over the role of Joseph from Jason Donovan at the London Palladium in 1992.
He even released a single of Close Every Door, which charted at number 27.
In March 2018, Phillip reprised his role as Joseph for an episode of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
